PetHut Started With a Bunny Named Pepe: Our Story

Before dogs, before side tables, before design sketches and late-night ideas, there was Pepe — our first pet together. A small, curious bunny who, technically speaking, was not allowed to live in our college dorm. She did anyway. 

Pepe lived quietly, hopping around between classes, naps, and late-night study sessions. We built makeshift spaces for her, moved furniture around, and figured out —very quickly —that pets don't just live with you. They live in your space, and their environment matters more than you think. 

Learning as We Went (With Every Pet)

As the years passed and our family grew, so did our understanding of how much pets shape a home. With every animal we welcomed, we found ourselves asking the same questions:

Where do they feel safest?
What helps them relax?
How can we make their space better?

We were always adjusting, improving, and rethinking. Moving things. Building things. Replacing things that didn't quite work. Every change was driven by one simple goal: making life better for them. What started with a cardboard home is now a fully customizable enclosure coming soon to PetHut. 

When Pet Spaces Didn't Match the Home

Somewhere along the way, we noticed something frustrating. 

We were putting so much care into designing our home —choosing furniture, textures, and layouts that felt intentional—yet the products made for pets rarely reflected that same thoughtfulness.

They worked, technically.
But they didn't belong.

So we started imagining something different. Pet spaces that felt calming. Furniture that didn't need to be hidden. Pieces designed with the same care we'd want for ourselves.

PetHut: A Brand Built From Real Life

PetHut became the place where all of that thinking landed. 

It's the result of years living with pets, learning from them, and constantly trying to improve their everyday experience. Every design starts with the same question we've been asking since Pepe:
Would this actually make their life better?

If the answer isn't yes, we keep refining. 

Built from Real Life, Not Trends

We didn't set out to build a brand. We set out to solve a problem we kept running into in our own home. 

PetHut is shaped by real pets, real spaces, and real moments—the quiet ones, the playful ones, and everything in between. It's our way of giving pets the same level of care and consideration they've always given us.

Still Inspired by Pets Who Started It All

Pepe may have started it all, but the inspiration never stopped.
